How to find out more about Eiffel
If you have not heard of Eiffel before, don't worry, there are plenty of resources
and implementations for all major platforms. Here is how you can quickly discover
the world of Eiffel.
The simplest Eiffel Introduction:
Eiffel: An Introduction. Robert Switzer Prentice Hall 1993 160pp
An easy introduction, but does not cover all advanced features.
The language specification:
Eiffel: The Language. Bertrand Meyer Prentice Hall 1992 600pp
The equivalent of the C++ ARM, and Java JLS except it is readable, for both an
introduction and solid grounding in all areas of Eiffel.
The rationale for OO and Eiffel:
Object-oriented Software Construction. Bertrand Meyer Prentice Hall 1997 1250pp
This is the second edition of this classic on OO. It only mentions Eiffel once
in the entire book, but you will get an insight into all aspects of OO programming
from the most basic to the most sophisticated.
Data Structures Using Eiffel. Richard Wiener Prentice Hall 1997 500pp
A good way to learn how to create data structures and other programming tricks
with Eiffel.
Object-Oriented Programming in Eiffel.
Pete Thomas and Ray Weedon Addison Wesley 1995 500pp
An intermediate introduction text to Eiffel.
Object-Oriented Programming in Eiffel.
Robert Rist and Robert Terwilliger Prentice Hall 1995 500pp
Another intermediate introduction text to Eiffel.
Introduction to Computer Science Using Eiffel. Richard Wiener Prentice Hall 1996
Software Development Using Eiffel: There can be life other than C++.
Richard Wiener Prentice Hall 1995 400pp
A good introduction to Eiffel, especially comparing Eiffel and C++.
Object-Oriented Software Engineering with Eiffel.
Jean-Marc Jezequel Addison Wesley 1996 340pp
An intermediate introduction text to Eiffel with an emphasis on Software Engineering
Object Structures: Building Object-Oriented Software Components with Eiffel.
Jean-Marc Jezequel Addison Wesley 1996 460pp
An intermediate introduction text to Eiffel with an emphasis on Components
Reusable Software. Bertrand Meyer Prentice Hall 1994 500pp
A reference book for the Eiffel libraries.
